"Ugh... my head..."
Kondai spoke as he walked away from the location of his pod's crash, the crash really shook him up and his head was spinning for sure. He didn't have a scratch on him though, he was however pretty reasonably upset about his pod suddenly crashing like that, what could have gotten into it he wondered. No time for that right now though. Currently, he was more concerned with figuring out where on the planet he landed, for the time being, it appeared to be a vast rocky outcrop with not much in sight.
"Well, I guess I'm going to have to simply pick myself up and head toward the nearest town or city, I'm sure I'll find people there."
So with that Kondai sighed and used his energy sense to locate the nearest area with a large number of energy signals and took off from the ground, flying toward the city at top speed. Kondai was excited to get there, both to see some people for the first time in a little bit and also because he was ABSOLUTELY starving, his stomach was growling like mad at him, it sounded like an angry dying bear.
It took Kondai a little while to get there and in the meantime, the hunger cramps really started hitting Kondai, he really needed some food, soon enough though Kondai was there at the town and he landed inside it. It was huge, much bigger than what he was used to from his small home. In fact, it was a little bit overwhelming to him, he didn't even know where to start in this city. Oh well, learning was a necessity. He knew he'd eventually get used to the vast city with enough exploration.
Kondai wandered around aimlessly within the crowds of people for a bit, he heard lots of voices and talking but due to all of the people talking at once it sort of all blended together in a nonsensical and loud slur of indecipherable speech. It was a little intimidating but Kondai didn't think much of it. However, soon enough he smelled something... and then his stomach growled even louder at him...
He took a look around and soon enough he saw a restaurant staring him straight back in the face, Kondai soon enough walked toward it and look in through the door to see tons of people eating inside. Kondai wasn't about to miss out on this and soon enough he found himself inside the restaurant with his mouth secretly watering. Eventually coming up on the cashier who spoke to him.
"Hello There, please, follow me, I'll bring you to an empty table and then I'll take your order."
Kondai nodded and followed her as instructed up until he was seated at a nearby table. It was there where he was seated at a table and given a menu before the woman spoke to him again.
"So, can I start you off tonight with a drink?"
Kondai didn't take long at all to answer, taking one look at the menu, realizing the only drink on here he recognized was water, and just deciding to take a dunk into something new. Hopefully, he liked it, but if not he could at least say he tried it.
"I'll take the Sencho tea please."
The waitress nodded and wandered off to get Kondai's tea, in the meantime Kondai was left to sit here for a little bit, in the meantime he reflected a little bit on all the stuff that had happened recently, with him being sent here to Earth and then his pod crashing, it was pretty stressful all things considered but at least he could enjoy the little things, like this nice little restaurant for instance. Of course, Kondai missed his home dearly, but he knew that it wasn't going anywhere any time soon so he could go and visit it whenever he so wished once he got himself a new ship or at the very least repaired his currently broken down one.
However, Kondai's thoughts soon shifted from that when he received the tea he asked for, it was still really hot so he didn't touch it after the waitress set it down on the table but he did give her a warm smile. Soon enough she spoke again and that was when Kondai realized that he hadn't even started to look over the menu yet.
"So, do you know what you would like yet or do you need a few more minutes?"
The woman asked Kondai casually, Kondai shook his head before responding quickly.
"No, my apologies I really zoned out there for a bit."
The woman simply smiled, nodded, and walked away to go tend to another customer, giving Kondai time to take a look at their menu. Oh boy, there was a lot of food here. Ramen, Tonkatsu Pork, all different forms of fried Tempura foods, Okonomiyaki, Yakitori, and of course there was Sushi. This was all the main courses he could order, but there were many different sides and desserts as well. By the time the lady came back, Kondai was hungry and he decided something that just about any Saiyan would say.
"One of everything on this menu please, it all sounds really good."
The lady gave Kondai a look like he was completely and utterly insane for ordering so much but she didn't argue, jotting down his entire recipe before wandering off to give it to the poor chef that had to do all of that cooking. Kondai knew he'd be waiting an hour or two but he didn't really care, at this point, he knew that he could definitely eat all of the food that he had ordered and probably even more...
In the meantime, Kondai began listening in on a nearby table, they seemed to be going over a subject that was honestly pretty peculiar, he had no idea what it was at first but the more he listened in the odder yet more interesting it became.
"Hey man, have you heard the news about all the weird disappearances lately? They say they found one of them dead!"
"Woah what!? You mean we have a serial killer on the loose here in the city!?"
Kondai stopped listening in after that, that was pretty much all he needed to hear at this point. Kondai now knew what he was going to do after this, he was going to find this killer and bring him to justice. This would definitely be the perfect way to open up his training, just a good old fashioned fight against a heartless criminal that needs put in their place. This was the kind of thing that got Kondai excited, though still weary. He wasn't stupid, this person could be pretty dangerous so he knew he had to be careful.
Kondai soon drank his tea since he didn't want it to get cold and then waved down a waiter for more, the waiter obliged and happily refilled his cup. Just in time too, the food had just gotten here. Kondai could smell the mix of aromas wafting toward him from the gigantic cart they hauled all of it out of the kitchen with.
Soon enough the entire table he was sitting at was covered in food, in fact they had to bring out two additional tables and sent them next to his table in order to set all of the food he ordered on the table, these portions weren't small either, they were all dinner-sized, made for an individual person to make an entire meal out of each and every order. Either way though Kondai didn't particularly care about that, instead, he picked up the first thing in front of him which he knew he didn't want to get cold, a bowl of Shoyu Ramen, and began to wolf it down as if he hadn't eaten a single time in his life.
The waitress that brought his food out just sat there stunned as Kondai tore through meal after meal like a wild ravenous animal, picking every plate, bowl, bone, and skewer clean. In one hand ripping meat off of a yakitori skewer and shoving it into his mouth and in the other piece after piece of wasabi and soy sauce covered sushi being shoveled into his mouth with damn near breakneck speed, almost impossible to keep up with.
It didn't take long for everyone in the restaurant to be staring at Kondai in disbelief that he just ate HALF of that absolutely massive meal and wondering just what the hell he was. Soon enough Kondai was through all the main courses and moved on to some appetizers, starting with a plate of tempura shrimp, golden and crispy to perfection, and then starting to scarf all of the shrimps down, the tail and all before moving on to all the other appetizers.
The appetizers didn't last long in the face of Kondai's insatiable appetite though and soon enough he had a mountain of plates and bowls stacked neatly on the table, there was only one last thing left for Kondai to chomp his way through as well; Dessert. Cheesecake, Dango, Mochi, Crepes, Taiyaki, Castella, Dorayaki, you named it and it was definitely on that table. Kondai immediately started with the jiggly cheesecake in front of him, not even cutting off a slice and instead pretty much faceplanting into it and eating it as a wild animal would.
Everyone so far was 100% speechless, the entire restaurant was staring in disbelief at Kondai's ravenous appetite and soon enough Kondai was 100% done, all of the plates were picked clean and stacked up on the tablet, Kondai let out a loud belch before patting his stomach. That REALLY hit the spot, he was all full now and he was ready to kick some bad guy ass. Before he could even be handed the bill he threw down some of the Zeni his mom gave him before he had departed and ran out of the restaurant, half to pay for the food, the other half to tip the waitress for all the stuff she went through to get Kondai all of that food.
Kondai decided that the best way to find the killer was to go full detective mode and try to search for clues, the best way to do that? checking every nook and cranny of this city to see all of what it had to offer, surely with enough wandering he would find hints of where he could find them. Kondai decided to start by waiting for the two he overheard talking to exit the restaurant, and so he lingered around outside and, opening the door kindly for anyone that entered or exited while noting them in his head so that he didn't accidentally miss them.
Soon enough the two guys appeared from the door, perfect. Kondai soon walked up to them to ask them the golden question.
"Hello you two, may I have a moment of your time please?"
The two stopped in their tracks and turned to address Kondai casually, curious as to what this could possibly be.
"Yeah, sure we're not doing much, just getting ready to go home. What's up, sir?"
Kondai nodded before speaking again, somewhat quietly.
"So, I may have accidentally overheard your conversation back in the restaurant about a murderer going around. I want to hunt this person down and bring them to justice, so what can you tell me about them? Do you know where the body was found so that I can search for clues?"
Both of the men looked dumbfounded, Kondai must've been new here because you couldn't just waltz into a crime scene, search for clues, and then beat up a known criminal. That's illegal, yet here Kondai was asking for information so that he could do just that. Either way, the two decided that it was none of their business and gave Kondai the information that he had asked for.
"It's in an alleyway near dreamland, an amusement park in the sky inside a tower northwest from here. You can't miss it. Good luck and be careful, this guy can and will kill you."
Kondai smiled and nodded appreciatively at the sentiment before giving a thumbs up and flying off, the two of their jaws dropping from what they just witnessed. Kondai was soon gone from their eyesight and zooming off in the direction they had told him to go in to reach dreamland. Kondai was excited about this adventure, and the potential of a fight against a strong opponent, though he was still determined to fight them purely to make them pay for their crimes. After all, that was the main point of fighting, to help bring justice to those who have wronged the innocent.
It took Kondai about 5 minutes before the large amusement park inside of a tower came into his view, on the top of the tower was a giant dome that contained the amusement park with its many attractions. It looked kinda fun, Kondai made a note to himself to come back here sometime later to go on some of the rides. For now, though Kondai had a job to do and it was time to get cracking. He landed beneath the tower and already he saw the police tape everywhere. He would have to make this as quick as he could.
Kondai saw blood on the ground, there was no weapon visibly nearby so either the police took it or there WAS no weapon and the murderer was, in fact, a fighter, the thought of which got Kondai more hyped up to fight him. Kondai was a body bag which he assumed contained the dead victim but he didn't touch it, Kondai had enough respect for the dead to know not to do that.
Kondai took a closer look around where the blood was and began to notice boot prints, faint and easy to miss for the untrained eye, they were heading off into the forest away from west city by the look of things. This meant that Kondai had a lead and he knew which direction that the killer may have run in. Kondai used his energy sense to locate him and to his surprise found many people.... underground about 50 miles off from here? That didn't sound about right but he wasn't going to question it.
Kondai soon walked down the forest path, he wanted to keep track of the bootprints just in case as they could come in handy, after all, maybe they had a hidden base out in the woods or something akin to that. You never really know with these types of people. On the way to wherever the bootprints led though he walked slowly, enjoying nature for a little while before he finally picked up the pace. Running alongside the prints and following them with intense speeds to try to get there as fast as he could, it was very well possible there were more innocent people in there after all.
Soon enough Kondai reached a forest clearing where the footprints just stopped, the energy signals were at their strongest here but they were underneath him still, Kondai didn't know how but he wasn't about to go in guns blazing by blowing up the ground, that might hurt or even worse kill someone. That was most definitely NOT what Kondai wanted to happen and so he looked around for any openings or secret levers/buttons that might be in the area. Searching around as best as he could for anything of the sort he could potentially find.
Soon minutes passed into about an hour and Kondai found nothing, all he knew was it was that the sun was starting to set and soon enough if he continued to come up empty handed he wouldn't be able to see in this forest to find the entrance to this base. Kondai sighed and leaned against a nearby tree, his arm accidentally whacking against an out of place tree branch pretty hard. Kondai reeled over in pain from the solid smack but was taken aback when he felt the ground rumble beneath his feet. Just like that? The underground fortress was now open to him. Kondai got super excited but knew what came next would require going stealth mode.
Kondai quickly walked down the steps leading into the facility quietly and in a crouched position, trying to stick to the shadow portions near the wall so that he'd be at the very least slightly harder to spot right off the bat in case anyone was near the entrance. On first look upon entering this place looked abandoned, cobwebs and spider webs laced the ceiling, the tile flooring beneath his feet was crumbled and cracked on numerous sections of it, and what little lighting there was from the lamps above was dim and dingy, hardly keeping the facility lit well. Kondai sucked it up though and wandered deeper into the facility to see what he could find though.
Kondai could barely see in this dark environment but sure enough what he found was a whole group of guys scattered across the facility, casually carrying on a conversation with each other. Nearby Kondai was some mold covered crates that Kondai quickly hid behind and listened in on what they had to say. What was said next left Kondai shocked and made him immediately understand what he had to do next.
"Did you hear from the boss? One of the cyborgs got loose the other day, killed a guy near that amusement park over in west city. They got found and was dragged back here. Apparently, the machinery keepin' em under our control failed. That just means more painful experimental cybernetic surgery for them."
The other men didn't say anything, in fact, they laughed. They thought that this inhumane kidnapping and treatment of other people was funny, it linked up in his head somewhat that this cyborg probably killed that guy in a PTSD induced panic. That gave Kondai reason more than before to put these guys where they belonged. The first step to that? Picking these guys off and knocking them out as efficiently and quietly as he could. Sure enough one of the guys started making his way over toward the crates, this was Kondai's chance...
Kondai soon popped out of cover for only a split second and wrapped his forearm around the guy's neck and cupped over his mouth with his hand to stop him from shouting and then pulled him over the crate and threw him to the ground, giving him several hard punches to the face to shut him up for a while. The actions performed were all one fluid motion, the guy was out like a light before he could even realize that Kondai grabbed him and the other two had turned away and were none the wiser, this was the perfect outcome.
Kondai soon moved over toward a shelf that held munitions and various complicated machine parts in big open crates. Kondai carefully picked up one of the smaller parts and decided that this would make the perfect distraction. He quickly chucked the part across the room where it struck the concrete wall and made a loud metallic clanging sound, alerting the guards and causing them to walk over in that direction.
"What the hell was that... how did that get there-"
Before he could even finish Kondai had flown over and dropped out of the air onto his back, giving him a hard chop to the back of the neck before doing a kick sweep to knock the final guy off of his feet and then grabbing him by the back of the head and slamming him face first into the ground. Both of them went down fast as well, and this meant that Kondai had clear passage into the next part of the facility, this was perfect. Kondai soon picked up the unconscious bodies and stacked them all up inside an empty crate before sealing it just in case someone wandered into this area so that they wouldn't find them and raise the alarms.
The hall was long as mildly narrow, if anyone was in here Kondai would have to be extra careful as there was no cover to hide behind, it was just a straight point a to point b hall. Sure enough, though there was a guy traveling right in the opposite direction that Kondai knew would intersect with him and so he did the only appropriate response, Kondai rushed forward and delivered one super hard punch to his face before he could respond for a quick and easy knockout. Kondai had nowhere to hide this one, so he just quietly hoped in his head that nobody would stumble into this hall and find this guy.
It took a while but eventually, Kondai made it into a big dark room with lights illuminating a huge array of odd looking pods, on closer inspection though? Inside these pods were people! Some of them with metallic parts sticking out like a sore thumb, each of the pods had a cardiograph on the front that measured their vital signs, most of them were alive but... some of them didn't appear to be so lucky. Kondai cursed silently in his head, he was a little too slow to save them, but he wasn't going to let their deaths be in vain.
Kondai knew he couldn't break them free on his own, chances are that whoever is running this operation has them under his control, so the only thing he could do was push forward and hope to find him to free them from his enslavement. These didn't even appear to all be human, there were some Saiyans in here too and some races that he didn't even recognize but assumed they were found on a different part of this planet that he hadn't visited yet.
Soon the lights just flipped on, it felt bright and Kondai thought he had gone blind for a moment but once his eyes adjusted to the sudden shift in lighting he saw at the top of a metal platform hanging off this ceiling sitting in front of an open metal door was a tall muscular man, Kondai could tell this was the leader, he was insanely powerful, probably even stronger than Kondai. He knew he was in for a long and hard fight.
Kondai spoke as he walked away from the location of his pod's crash, the crash really shook him up and his head was spinning for sure. He didn't have a scratch on him though, he was however pretty reasonably upset about his pod suddenly crashing like that, what could have gotten into it he wondered.
In the man's hand was an unusual looking remote with a long antenna on the top of it. Before he did anything with it though he spoke down to Kondai.
"So. You're the guy I've been watching take out those buffoons that failed to protect the facility as I designated them to. How interesting. You certainly provided me quite a show. But.... this is where it ends. Now you'll have to fight the cyborgs and I'm warning you... you're going to die."
Kondai tried to object and say something in retort but he was stopped before he could even say a single word in response by hearing the pods open one by one except the ones that he dead ones lay in. Their eyes quickly flew open and they all rushed out to attack Kondai. Kondai's eyes widened and he jumped out of the way as they all rushed to throw a punch at him, this was not going to be good. Kondai hoped he could outlast them to take out the leader up there.
Kondai landed a good distance away from the mind-controlled cyborgs and launched two ki orbs at their position, whacking two of them with them. There were four of these guys in total. These orbs did some damage to them but it didn't take them out for good, soon enough one of the cyborgs managed to swiftly make it behind Kondai and grab him, another cyborg rushing toward him and sinking its fist hard into Kondai's gut, Kondai vomited from the sheer force of the punch, the vomit had traces of blood in it as well. Kondai knew now that he was in a little bit of trouble.
Kondai soon managed to fly upward and grab the arms of his grappler before throwing them at the concrete wall with all of his strength, cracking the concrete wall with the sheer force of the throw and then following it up with a flying kick to the gut, cracking the wall even further. Kondai had an opening to reduce the number on cyborgs now and he took it, giving a hard strike to the solar plexus that he knew was a definitive knockout punch, and it worked like a charm, the cyborg fell unconscious. One down, three left.
One of the cyborgs suddenly lifted its hand in a fist and fired its fist out as a projectile! Striking Kondai right across his face and knocking his jaw out of place from the force while sending him straight through the already damaged concrete wall. DAMN that hurt. Kondai struggled to his feet afterward and forced his jaw to set back in place with a rather gross sounding crunch. Kondai then launched forward, picking up the android's detached fist and throwing it at them as a distraction before giving them a roundhouse kick to the side of the head, knocking them backward hard!
The cyborg hit its head straight through the concrete and got stuck in it from the neck up, imprisoning it for the time being. Perfect, there were now only two left. They both attempted to double team Kondai with rapid energy waves all being launched his way but Kondai was ready for this one, weaving around each and every one of them before forming two ki orbs in his hands and sinking them into both of the cyborg's guts, one for each cyborg, and then firing to send them flying backward in explosive glory.
Once the smoke cleared the remaining two were taken out, but Kondai was wore thin in stamina and he'd sustained a lot of damage. Kondai knew that he still had one more opponent left up ahead though and that was the leader of this damned facility. Kondai soon picked himself up and fly up toward the metal door, it appeared that he wasn't on the platform anymore but went into the office behind the door, Kondai was pissed at this point though, he simply said screw it in his head and gave the door a mighty kick, kicking it straight off its hinges and toward the leader.
The leader was hit by the door but it didn't knock him out as Kondai expected. But while he was stunned it gave Kondai a few brief seconds to look around the room. This was definitely a room of operations, in the center of the room was a massive table with all sorts of schematics and blueprints littered across it, on both sides of the room were massive server computers, and against the wall right behind where the leader was standing was hundreds of monitors above one giant monitor, the giant monitor appeared to be the main computer while the others seemed linked to some hidden cameras that had been watching Kondai the whole time he'd been making his way through the facility.
The leader didn't speak, but he soon ripped off the trenchcoat he was wearing, now wearing only a tank top, he looked ready for combat. Kondai got into a fighting pose as well, this was it. The final battle. Kondai knew that it was do or die now. Kondai let out a roar and rushed forward toward the leader, punching him square in the jaw with all of his strength, however, it didn't appear like he even flinched, somehow the man was immune to the pain of Kondai's attack, this was not good.
The man soon grabbed Kondai by the arm and flung him straight out of the door and off the platform, back into the room with the androids before he jumped off the platform to face his opponent one on one.
"It's so rare when I get to face someone myself, I forgot how much fun it is to kill somebody with my own two hands. Though, I will hate having to wash all the monkey blood off of them."
Kondai grit his teeth at that comment, he was naive sometimes but he wasn't stupid, he knew a racial slur when he heard it. That slur was pretty common against Saiyans all things considered. Either way, it didn't matter, Kondai had ENOUGH, he immediately jumped forward in a rush of punches and kicks all aimed for specific spots on his body, as he finished though he was blasted backward by a massive energy wave the left him down on his hands and knees. However... Kondai was smirking to himself.
The man soon howled out in pain and appeared to not be moving, Kondai aimed specifically for his pressure points to disable his movement so that he could get a breather after taking such heavy damage and stamina drain, now that he had it he was back on this feet and able to finish what he started, charging up a massive Solar Eruption before launching it right toward the leader of this fortress with a loud fearsome roar. This was the final blow that took him down, however, afterward, Kondai passed out.
Kondai woke up a day later in a hospital bed, his injuries were all bandaged up and he was hooked up to a heart monitor and IV. He later was informed that after he took on the criminals he was picked up and brought to the hospital as investigators had heard the loud battle from all the way at the crime scene. The men were arrested and the cyborgs rehabilitated, Kondai's hospital bills were all paid off by the city in an act of extreme gratitude. For now, Kondai could take it easy as he recovered...
