It was a beautiful day outside, Lettuki had spent the day training with makeshift items, mainly trees he used as a barbells and stumps as dumbbells, it was nowhere near useful but when you're out of work and have no zeni, you learned to make do with what you have. That was the sun had only begun to raise, now the sun seemed to have reached it's peak and the saiyan's "work out" had only ended because his stomach demanded he get food. Thankfully, he had some zeni to spare for some food in a nearby town, the food was as good as regular food could be, but it was an improvement to the animals Lettuki would attempt to cook, most of the time he'd end up burning or under cooking the animal and it became annoying to eat the charred or still bloody meat.
Which brings him to the town, it was a small town, most of the buildings only reaching 2 stories, rarely 3. It would probably be the ideal town to stay in, but he couldn't afford any place here and while he could sleep on the streets, it would provide no protection against the elements, only a fool would think he was stronger than the elements. As Lettuki walked through the town, he made his way to the bar, they had good food and drinks there, but oddly enough he seen more than one person who seemed to have gotten into a fight recently. He briefly considered asking about it, but feeling all the injured people's ki only showed they were weak, even by human fighter standards, the person who won would probably prove to be weak as well.
When Lettuki made it to the bar, he ordered something called chicken drumsticks, apparently most humans compared other foods to this food, so it would be interesting to see how the comparison stands up. "You hear about the maniac attacking people?" The bartender suddenly spoke, attempting to make conversation with the saiyan. "No. I did not." Lettuki answered while looking for something to drink as well. "They say he's fast, clever and strong." That caught Lettuki's attention. "Is that so?" Lettuki asked, hoping to get more information from the bartender. "Yeah, people say he uses an explosion and then rushes in, the people who don't fall from the explosion end up being beaten. He always go for the zeni afterwards." The bartender explained further. "Hm... How does this "maniac" look like?" Lettuki asked, hoping to meet this figure. "That's the thing, nobody knows, the attack is over quickly and nobody got a look at them." The bartender answered. For a while there was silence, Lettuki felt disappointed he wouldn't be able to use the coward as a punching bag. "Where do these attacks happen?" Lettuki decided to ask, he didn't have anything planned, so he could go to the coward and trick him into attacking the saiyan. "The attacks are about 5 miles east, a small trail, the road is a dirt one, not much people use it, but those who do are usually joggers." The bartender answered.
"Hm..." Lettuki begun to think, he wanted food, but he wanted to fight. It sounds like the person could either use ki or some primal explosion, if it's the latter, there's no doubt that the attacker would be easy to kill, probably enough that he could kill him and get back in time for the food. If it's the former, he calculated the strength would be a decent workout if he's able to take on everyone else with ease, but would it be worth making the food wait? He could just be strong enough to beat up the rather weak population of the town. "Any idea how strong this "maniac" is?" Lettuki asked the bartender. "I'm afraid nobody knows." The bartender answered. "I wouldn't suggest fighting him pal." The bartender told the saiyan. "I am more than capable of taking care of it." Lettuki told him as he stood up. "Hold on to the food, keep it warm, should be back quickly." Lettuki ordered as he left the bar and took to the air.
He begun to sense for ki, trying to find any notable strength in the direction the bartender had told him, he wanted to kill him and get back to his food quickly. However to his dismay, no one stood out from the rest, all the slightly above average ki sources were far back in the town, it didn't make sense, even the strongest source should have a challenge against the current group of people he could sense in the area. Lettuki landed in the middle of the trail, the closest person to him was weak even compared to the other sources of ki, so he shouldn't be bothered and it should allow him time to think on his next course of actions.
There was no one who could strike and the bartender wouldn't have just send him out on a wild goose chase if the "maniac" was gone or the attacks stopped recently. Would he? There was no reason to lie, he even warned Lettuki against going to find the "maniac" so he must've believed Lettuki could find the figure. Yet there was no one who could do what was described by the bartender. Then suddenly, Lettuki was stuck by a ki blast to the back of his head, the hit was enough to make him fall to the ground.
Lettuki attempted to get up, but a boot planted itself into the back of the saiyan's head and forced him back down. A figure begun to laugh, causing Lettuki to grab the dirt and form a fist in pure rage at such dirty tactics. "You're pathetically weak for a saiyan." The figure said. Lettuki's only reaction to this was to unleash Destruction Dome and knock the figure off him. The blast was quick and rather weak, but it was enough to get the figure off him. "Good, I'd be disappointed if you fell that easily." The figure said. Lettuki rose up to finally see the figure.
To his surprise it was a female human, she had long black hair and had a single scar right across her face, taking her eye, which she covered with an eye patch. Most surprisingly, she seemed to be young, about 20 years at most. "Aren't you a bit young to be throwing your life away?" Lettuki said with a smirk but still maintaining his anger. "Ha! Like you could beat me! This isn't even my full power!" Eye patch said with pride. "Is that so?" Lettuki said, still maintaining his smirk and ready to see just how strong this human was, she was still quite weak, but he knew some humans and other races could transform to become stronger. Suddenly, she unleashed her power, it was a nice improvement, she could take on even the strongest ki source back in the town, that was for sure. She immediately rushed Lettuki and begun to attack.
Her strength was impressive, but it was nowhere near enough, he easily dodged eye patch's attempts to strike him, it was almost casual to him. "Well, you're strong for a human, I'll give you that much." Lettuki said between his dodging. The girl however keeps attempting to attack the warrior. "This is pathetic." Lettuki finally said after getting bored and struck the girl in her gut, instantly bringing her to the ground and she let out a groan of pain. "Did you think you could truly beat me with that power?" Lettuki asked while looking down at her, his arms crossed. "No... I'll beat you with this power!" She suddenly roared as she rose up at the warrior with increased speed. Before Lettuki could even respond, he was struck across the fight, causing him to stumble a bit. The girl followed with a knee to the saiyan's gut, causing him to topple over, yet still stand. She finished her combo by putting her fists together and bringing them down the back of the saiyan's head.
Once again on the ground, Lettuki had to admit, she was a lot stronger than he expected, he didn't think a human could transform twice. Before she could plant her foot on the back of the saiyan's head again, Lettuki rolled away and unleashed a ki blast to her face, distracting her for just a moment. That was all he needed, by the time she recovered, she was met with a fist connecting to her face, she quickly returned the favor though. The two engaged in an exchange of blows, each punch being returned with another and even kicks with added in as the exchanged continued. Lettuki kept powering through, although his defense wasn't as good as hers, his punches hurt a lot more, that much was clear, he just needed to break through it and he'll be capable of overpowering her.
But she refused to let up her defenses, she kept blocking most of the attacks, but it meant she couldn't strike back as often as she could've, this was becoming a game of stamina, see who let's up first and it was in favor of the defender. Lettuki gritted his teeth, he couldn't allow her to win this exchange, the person to win the first exchange often becomes the person to win the battle, it was the most decisive part of the battle. At least that's what Lettuki learned. However as Lettuki attempted to strike yet again at the girl, he lost his footing and instead fell forward. The girl, not expecting the saiyan to "lunge" at her fell back as well.
Lettuki lands on top of the girl and looks into her eye. It was a nice blue, but he preferred the colour green. He then proceeded to deliver punch to the downed girl and resume his attack, using his new advantage of being on top to effectively pummel her into the ground as she attempted to defend against the blows, but failing to do so. Suddenly, he notice a faint glow in her eye and barely managed to raise his arms in his defense against a single eye beam. The beam manages to puncture Lettuki's forearm, but doesn't do enough damage to prevent him from using it. The pain is refreshing, it has been a while since Lettuki bleed and this meant the true battle was beginning! The girl however uses this to launch another blast at Lettuki from her mouth, sending him flying off her.
The beam carried Lettuki a small distance before he was able to redirect the attack away. "Not bad, you're full of neat tricks, aren't ya?" Lettuki asked with a smile. "Shut it!" The girl demanded as she flew at him once again. Yet another exchange of blows ensured, this time in the air and this meant Lettuki didn't have to worry about his footing. It seemed she had wanted him to waste his stamina as she kept up her defensive game, so that was reassuring, he knew he could break through it with enough time and determination. "I won't" The girl begun to speak as the two were fighting but stopped when she had to dodge a strike that slipped past her defenses and nearly hit her square in the face. "Let you ke- Ugh!" She attempted to continue, but was cut off by a strike to her gut. "Keep robbing people!" She finally finished.
Lettuki paused his attack and opened his mouth to say something, but was quickly cut off by a punch to the face, followed by a knee to the stomach and a kick to the head that sent him flying down. "What's wrong? Got tired all of a sudden?" The girl said with a cocky smile. "You idiot, I'm here to stop the thief too!" Lettuki shouted at her from the small crater he had formed on impact. "W-Wha? No! You're lying! This is a sad attempt at a trick coward!" She said as she once again charged at Lettuki. Lettuki flew up and dodged her attempt to plant her feet into his gut. "Attack me again and I'm going to kill you and the thief!" He shouted down at her. She only looked up at him and studied him with her eye. Lettuki only glared back at her, waiting for her to either stop or to attempt yet another attack.
Normally he'd have killed someone for something like this, but the girl had a sense of honour. To a very small degree, but it was honour nonetheless, plus she was quite strong, even giving Lettuki a challenge. But he'd unleash his omen and end this quickly if she tried to attack him one more time, there was little to no risk to use it now, he wouldn't have to worry about killing others and he had enough self control he wouldn't go look for more people to kill, he was sure of it.
However, the girl seemed to sigh "Alright, you seem... Like you're not here to rob people." She decided and then muttered something to herself, Lettuki could only pick up something about a shower. "What was that?" Lettuki asked her. "I said you're not here to rob people!" She shouted angrily to the saiyan who had hovered down to the ground beside her. "No, you said something about a shower." Lettuki told her, wondering why she wouldn't tell him. "O-oh! Nothing, it's nothing, just said... I need a shower!" She explained with a nervous smile. Lettuki didn't have time for this nonsense. "Seems like the true robber isn't active right now." Lettuki plainly observed, wondering what to do next. "That, or we scared them off." The girl added to Lettuki's observation.
"What brings you to hunt the thief?" Lettuki asked the girl. "I could ask you the same thing." She said while looking at the saiyan. "I needed to find someone to train on." Lettuki plainly said. "Oh." The girl simply uttered. "You don't know about the zeni reward on him?" The girl asked the saiyan. "No, I didn't." Lettuki said once again plainly. "Well, we'll split it and work together, yeah?" The girl said as she offered her hand out to the saiyan. "Hmph. Fine, I'm fighting first though." Lettuki told her as he shook her hand. "Sounds good to me!" The girl said with a smile. Then there was silence for a small while as Lettuki looked around, trying to plan his next move.
He could go get his food, but the girl was capable of transformations and the thief could be capable of doing the same and might not have been here while the two were even fighting, none of the other ki sources seemed to have noticed. But then again, there was a few changes of the ki sources in the area, so it's possible he had detected the fight and left quietly without transforming at all. Although Lettuki couldn't stay here for the day, he'd have to sleep in the town and while it may not be a very cold night out, it will still be annoying and the fight still might not be worth it. Still, extra Zeni would be useful to have laying around.
"Um, I'm Alice, by the way." The girl suddenly spoke, bringing Lettuki back to reality. "I'm Lettuki." The saiyan simply said. "Nice to meet you Lettuki." Alice said with a smile. "Nice to meet you as well." Lettuki said, simply exchanging pleasantries with her. "You've got quite the punch on you." Alice told him as she rubbed her jawline. If he recalled correctly, that's where he punched her after they fell. "You got creative uses for ki." Lettuki admitted, he never really considered using ki through anything through his hands or body as whole. He wasn't particularly good with using ki in creative ways, he relied more on dishing out damage the old fashioned way, with his fists. "Thank you! I developed them on my own!" Alice said, beaming with pride. "How long were you a fighter?" Lettuki decided to ask her. "About 10 years." She said filled with confidence. "And how old are you now?" Lettuki asked her, trying to figure out how young she was when she started fighting. "I'm 19, how about you?" Alice answered and asked the saiyan her own question. "I'm 28." Lettuki answered. "Wow, nearly a decade over me old man!" Alice said with a smile as she playfully elbowed his side. "Hmph." Lettuki grunted, he was not amused at being called old. "Why did you start fighting so young? 9 year old warriors aren't that common on Earth from what I saw." Lettuki asked while explaining a bit on by why asked the question. "Oh.... Let's just say I didn't get this eye patch to play pirates." Alice explained, no longer looking at Lettuki and instead looking in a random direction away from him. "I see. I'm sorry for bringing it up." Lettuki told her, realizing that this must be a sore topic to talk about. Then yet again there was silence as the two stood there, Alice looking off into the distant while Lettuki simply scanned the ki sources, trying to find something unusual about any of them.
"Um. Where you staying? Or do you live here? In the town, I mean." Alice decided to ask to break the silence. "I don't live in town, nor stay there. I have a cave about 50 miles out east of the city." Lettuki explained, deciding the girl would want nothing to do with a cave or had any intentions to harm him. In response the girl only muttered something, barely audible to the saiyan. "What was that?" Lettuki asked once again. "Oh, it was nothing." Alice explained with a small laugh. Lettuki sighed. "It was not "nothing", what was it?" Lettuki asked with a bit more command in his voice. "Um... I said you could stay with me in my hotel room, we could get you a cot or something." Alice explained, a small blush on her face appearing as she explained. "If you insist." Lettuki told her, not really caring she was embarrassed by her own offer. "Okay... I guess we should go, I don't think they'd show up until the night or tomorrow." Alice explained as she rose to the air. "Alright, I need to get to the bar first, I got some food waiting for me." Lettuki told her. "Are you sure it will still be waiting? We must've fought for at least 20 minutes." Alice explained. "Hm... But still, I paid good money for the food." Lettuki explained as he took to the air as well. "I'll find you later, right now I want to eat." Lettuki attempted to fly away, but instead was blocked by Alice. "I'll just buy you new food, besides you don't know what room I'll be in." Alice explained to him. "Fine, if you insist." Lettuki said, rolling his eyes. He didn't really want to argue over getting food, he just wanted to eat and if she was paying, the better.
With that settled, the two set off to Alice's hotel room. "Why bring me to your hotel room? I don't mind my cave, it's not too far." Lettuki decided to ask, her offer was out of nowhere and it was quite odd, even the most generous people he met thus far wouldn't offer him a place to stay after fighting each other. "Oh... I, erm... Wanted to apologize for attacking you." Alice explained. It was strange why she was hesitant to say it, but Lettuki didn't want to pursue the matter and so the two flew in silence once again.
It was a quick flight and the two stopped at small motel on the outskirts of town and seemed to be in decent shape considering the town's size. Although compared to the cave, it was like living in the saiyan palace. Alice lead him toward the door labelled number 7 and the two entered the room, it was small but nice, it had a single queen sized bed in the middle, a TV, a small fridge in the corner and a nightstand with a phone right by the bed. "Why don't you go shower while I order some food for you." Alice suggested. "Very well, it has been a while since I showered anyways." Lettuki complied and made his way to the washroom.
He locked the door and stripped off his armor and clothing. Lettuki briefly looked into the mirror and saw his battle scarred body, it had seen plenty of years of combat and it really showed, there was no doubt about it. He entered the shower and let the water run, the hot water a nice refresher compared to the often cold pond he had bathed in every now and then. This woman, a odd one to be sure, but she was strong despite having to transform twice, although he did note she seemed to have reverted back to her first transformation for a while after the two had finished fighting, only changing into her original form after some time passed. It was odd, Alice invited him to stay yet didn't trust him enough to revert back to her regular form until they neared the town.
After a while the saiyan got out of the shower, turning off the water and wrapping himself in a towel, he had learned most races found nudity to be an almost taboo subject and he assumed the humans would think the same. He exited the bathroom, along with the saiyan came the stream, having been built up from the hot water the saiyan was using. "Thank you." Lettuki simply told Alice who was busy on the phone. "Yeah, you're welc- Eep!" She had tried to say before making a near gasp like noise. "What is it?" Lettuki asked her, he had covered himself like most humans tended to do on the few scenarios he saw on the TV, it was wrapped around his waist perfectly. "Erm, it's nothing! Please go change in the washroom, will you?" She quickly explained with a blush before asking him to put his clothing on in the washroom. "Of course, I just wanted to know when the food will be here and what the food will be." Lettuki explained. "I'll tell you later, please just go." She begged him while looking away.
What strange behavior, in the scenarios he saw, others wouldn't particularly care as long as the male had the towel waist high. Regardless, Lettuki returned to the bathroom, putting back on his clothing while his stomach growled. Finally dressed, the saiyan made another attempt to inquiry about the food. "Okay, I'm dressed again. What is the food and when will it be here?" He asked Alice. "Erm, I got 2 Pizzas and some hot wings. Should only take a hour." Alice answered. P-za? Lettuki never heard any item like that before, but eating wings that were freshly cooked sounded good, although he had to wonder from what creature were the wings taken from? The birds he saw wouldn't fill him unless it was a decent mountain, but even then it would be annoying to eat.
"What is this "p-za" item?" Lettuki decided to ask, the wings probably wouldn't matter if the "p-za" was fulfilling enough. "Oh, the one I got is a pepperoni, so it will be pepperoni, cheese, tomato sauce all placed and cooked on top of dough." Alice explained and Lettuki knew almost half of those things so it was a good start.
"Say, why did you seem so... Insistent on me going to the washroom? Was I not wearing the towel properly?" Lettuki decided to ask her instead, he was curious if something had messed up or the information he had seen on the TV was incorrect. "Um... It's not that. You... "Wore" it "right". But it's unusual to show off your body to a girl, unless..." Alice attempted to explain to him, blushing hard and stumbling over her word. "I see, you thought I was trying to attract you as a mate." Lettuki realized, it was a context that wasn't covered on the TV show, he had done it right, just different context. "No offense, but you're a bit young for my tastes, besides I have too much work to do." Lettuki explained with a small laugh to himself. "H-Hey! I can do better than you!" Alice shouted at the saiyan before muttering to herself again. "Whatever makes you sleep better at night." Lettuki said with a smirk and a shrug of his shoulders. "I'm not even attracted to you though!" Alice protested "Mhm." Was the only thing Lettuki replied with while he had a grin on his face now.
Alice groaned and flopped down on the bed. Lettuki took a spot on the edge of the bed. "So "Sugar" what now?" Lettuki teased with a snicker. "Shut up!" Alice shouted, though it was muffled under the pillow she was burying her face into, this however only caused Lettuki to snicker even more. Lettuki waited with a grin on his face while Alice kept her face buried into the pillow. They waited for a while until the pizza finally arrived along with the wings. Lettuki didn't expect the wings to be the size there were, it must've belonged to another bird then the kind he had usually seen and it's skin was delicious and oddly spicy. The pizza on the other hand was strange, it wasn't as meaty as he hoped, it was rather plain and disappointing compared to the wings.
"This "P-za" is... Sub par, but the wings, they are great meals, the only thing wrong with them is the meat on the bones are far too low."Lettuki said as he continued to eat the wings. "Glad you enjoy the wings." Alice said as she ate her pizza. "Thank you." Lettuki told Alice. "No problem." She replied back with a smile. Lettuki finished the wing and let out a yawn, the clock read 3 o'clock but Lettuki felt tired from the fight and finally getting to relax. "Here, drink this, it should keep you up a bit longer." Alice said as she handed Lettuki some water. "Thank you." Lettuki said as he downed the drink. "I'm sorry."
Suddenly everything felt heavy to Lettuki, the world was even slowly spinning. "W-What..?" Lettuki managed to say while he was dazed. "The drugs will put you right to sleep, don't worry. I don't know how long though, I never drugged a saiyan before." Alice explained as she helped Lettuki up and placed him on the bed. "Again, I'm truly sorry, but I need this zeni far more than you. But I'll tell you what, since you were such a gentlemen, I'll leave you some of my rewards. Please don't come looking for me." Alice furthered explained as she made her way to the door, stopping only to place a bag by the TV. "Farewell Lettuki, I'm afraid I'm going have to skip town. This will be the last time we shall meet." She said as she begun to open the door and look outside. She looked back one last time "And just so you know, I really am not attracted to you." Alice said as she stepped outside the door and shut the door.
"Ha...." Lettuki managed to barely laugh. All that and her parting words is refusal that she liked him, it was adorable to Lettuki, although he should be burning with pure anger than he let the coward through and didn't even realize it, now here he was unable to do anything in a bed. He'll have to get mad later, right now he wanted to sleep. The drugs were stronger than he thought. He fought to keep his eyes open, he knew he could track Alice down, he just couldn't afford to sleep right now, the drugs will wear off soon and he'll be able to catch up, but if he slept now, who knew how long he would be out. But at last, he couldn't fight it, his eyes slumped down and his body began to enter it's sleep mode against his will, he kept fighting but his body refused and eventually, his mind began to slowly accept to sleep to, until finally, the saiyan fell asleep.
