Have you ever wondered if molten rock boiled? The Namekian warrior known as Jhelks had never stopped to ask the question before in his life, yet now the warrior had the answer he never thought he needed to know. Bubbling magma erupted next to the small obsidian platform Jhelks balanced upon in the Magma Grottoes beneath Namek's surface. The violent spray of liquid stone showered hundreds of burning ooze droplets threatening to roast the Namekian, and only a timely leap across the river of roiling death to another obsidian disk left the warriors flesh unscarred.
All across the cavern Dark Clan warriors trained in a manner similar to Jhelks. Many focusing on perspective and reflexes training just as Jhelks did currently, while many others conducted duels upon floating platforms of specialized steel. The duelists not only had to contend with the extreme heat, but to be thrown out of the ring threatened death. The platform was also a training ground for balance as to much weight to any side submerged the platforms corners in molten rock! Intently studying a particularly vicious duel taking place nearby Jhelks almost missed another heat bubble erupting to his side.
Exploding with a hushed pop, gouts of magma flew wild! Jumping rearward the warrior spun his body in a perfect back flip to land palm first upon a particularly jagged and uneven obsidian platform. Forcing his muscles to move and straighten to find balance Jhelks watched his own purple blood seep free from the space between his palms and the platform. Gritting fanged teeth as he slowly bled upon the stone Jhelks searched for his next safe point before any other magma bubbles choose to erupt.
"Jhelks! Jhelks!" a voice called from dozens of yards away as a thickly torsoed Namekian took flight from the grottoes safe area and flew to a comfortable hover above the hand standing warrior. "What do you want Cargot? I'm a little busy right now." Jhelks asked with just a hint of aggression coloring his tone as he raised himself up on his fingertips to better adjust his equilibrium. "I got brought in on a job by some raiders I know. They asked me to find a few others too." Cargot replied with a smirk as he watched Jhelks strain from the mix of exertion and heat. "They have something special planned for Skyfall, so I wanted to know if you would like the chance to do some real work instead of just training all the time?" Cargot finished as another magma bubble started to form to Jhelks left.
"What the hell is Skyfall?" Jhelks muttered aloud as he eyeballed the slowly expanding bubble. From his position in the air above Cargot snickered as he uncrossed his bulging arms and aimed a long finger at the bubble. "Skyfall is what we call the annual meteor shower expected to hit the surface in a few days." Cargot explained before firing a beam of red energy into the magma bubble, triggering a fierce explosion! Catching on too slowly to Cargot's actions, Jhelks pushed hard off the stone and threw his body hard to his right. Several globs of magma struck Jhelks in the chest and arms as he covered his face and spun into a roll through the air, the warrior only just managed to throw himself far enough to land on a safe patch of stone.
Skin sizzling from the pattern of burns he had just suffered Jhelks came to his feet with fangs bared at Cargot. "You try something like that again and I'll kill you!" the warrior threatened, his words causing laughter to erupt from his 'friend.' "Boo hoo boy. Just fly away from it next time!" Cargot roared between laughs. "Listen I don't have all day, you want the job meet up with me tonight a the Sauna Le' Slug." Cargot said as he slowly flew away.
Still angered Jhelks spit into the magma pool, he watched the liquid dissolve while he focused on calming himself down enough to think. Sauna Le' Slug was a famous sauna and bathhouse within Slug Town, as the moist heat followed by a cool bath was very refreshing for Namekian skin. Jhelks had to admit once he had cooled himself that a raid on the surface would provide both training as well as payment. Perhaps taking on some work wouldn't be such a bad thing?
Deciding he would take the fool Cargot up on his offer Jhelks scanned the magma pool for his next obsidian perch and leap back out over the bubbling death. Wondering how the raiding party expected to use a meteor storm as cover for a surface raid, the warrior ran scenarios through his head for the next three hours as he continued his training of sensing and dodging danger.
Once his training session was completed and Jhelks once again stood upon nonthreatening land, the warrior exited the magma grottoes in a brisk sprint. The run from the grottoes to Slug Town helped Jhelks to focus and center himself before he returned to his squalid apartment in the dregs of the city. Before long the man cleaned himself and was ready to meet up with Cargot. Flying over the city's western reaches Jhelks quickly managed to find the massive capsule building that was Sauna Le' Slug.
The sauna was bristling with activity this day, but it only took a single glance for Jhelks to realize the clientele was made up of veteran raiders and warriors. Whatever Cargot's contacts had planned it clearly promised to be big. Circling the sky over the establishment Jhelks searched until he found the large mercenary. Cargot sat surrounded by a crew of hard looking fighters totaling thirteen in number. Descending from the sky Jhelks landed among the gathered party, his appearance earning a grin from the few Namekians he recognized and a sneer from those he did not.
"Good, now that we are all here, lets go inside for a nice steam while I explain the plan." Cargot said with authority. When no challenges came to meet the powerful Namekian, the gathered raiding party headed for Sauna Le' Slug.
