This tournament continues to heat up ladies and gentlemen! It appears each fighter brings more intensity than the last, this tournament is going to be one for the record books! Next up in the ring...
The nib of Alris’ quill scratched across the rough surface of his notebook as the Shinjin hovered dozens of feet above the arena, diligently noting down the goings-on below. Several matches of this ‘tournament’ had already played out, the inhabitants of this small world fighting each other to a draw or knockout according to their quite quaint rules of honor. Alris found their insistence on playing nice amusing, perhaps given enough time they could truly develop into a respectable race. Then again, they wouldn’t be the first race that had burned so bright, only to snuff out under the pressures of the galaxy while its caretakers watched.
Observing silently and carefully.
Even as the uncouth announcer bellowed his name across the tournament field, Alris was already descending to the square ring, shutting the notebook closed with an audible snap and stowing it within his voluminous robes. The Shinjin would touch down on the opposite end of the ring from where the other fighters were housed to await their fights, his stance radiating calmness, sureness in his eventual victory.
Then again, no reason to be overly cocky. Even less developed planets like this could, on occasion, develop formidable fighters.
With a single, finely formed hand, Alris removed his cloak, throwing it negligently to the side of the ring where a mysterious gust of wind caught it, settling it carefully down in the soft grass.
Underneath his now discarded robe, Alris wore a simple blue-silver doublet, worn underneath a similarly blue doublet and jerkin. The godly warrior stretched his neck one way, then the other, then simply clasped his hands calmly behind his back, waiting for his opponent to arrive. PL: 3,600 WC: 277
Enyo had been spending the time leading up to her match stretching and pacing in the fighter’s lounge. She was anxious to get moving. To let loose all this pent up energy. To FIGHT. She wanted to show Lettuki that she still had her edge, even if she hadn’t kept up with her training. And she figured the best way to do that would be to wreck house in this fucking tournament.
Enyo hopped in place, tail whiplashing side to side, and shook her head and arms, loosening the muscles. She nearly bolted out of the back room when the announcer called her name. Finally! She stepped up onto the ring with a sharptoothed grin and held her arms out to bask in the crowd’s roar. It was a nice sound. Got the blood pumping.
The saiya-jin turned to her enemy and crouched low, readying herself to attack when the announcer gave the all clear. Her sharp eyes with pinpoint pupils examined him from behind her visor, that she had tinted to protect her sensitive eyes from the bright sunlight. He looked fairly confident. Cool and collected. Usually those kinds of guys were more dangerous than the hulking brutes. They were smarter. And smart was dangerous.
She probed his ki with her own senses and then mentally frowned. He WAS stronger than her… but not overwhelmingly so. She could do this. It’ll just be a good challenge, that’s all. She’d pulled through tougher odds, but then again that was usually in a life or death battle. She didn’t have much experience holding back in ‘friendly’ competition.
Alris rolled his eyes internally as his opponent came sprinting out of the fighter’s area at an impressive speed, her teeth bared in a sharp toothed grin as the crowd around them roared as one primitive being, hungering for violence. Admittedly such impulses in an underdeveloped race wasn’t exactly surprising, it was still a tad saddening that the Kai in charge of this quadrant had not taken it upon themselves to resolve such matters. Perhaps after he finished surveying Namek, Alris could stay on this world for a few months and give them a few helpful nudges in the correct direction, towards a more prosperous future.
Alris would stare unblinkingly at his Sayiajin opponent, still as a statue as he examined every minute feature of his strange opponent. She was a Sayiajin of course, that much was abundantly clear by both her tail and body structure. However, there was something……off about this one, something the Shinjin couldn’t quite put his finger on. The woman seemed more….savage in appearance in comparison to some other of her brethren that Alris had seen, a fact that was reinforced by the sheer wildness of her ki, as much as the pitiful strength she possessed could be called ‘wild’. Regardless, now was not the time for the Shinjin to get caught up in his habits of questioning everything different that he saw. Now was the time for action, time for the dance of flesh and energy two warriors exchanged blows.
In a blur of motion, Alris opened the fight by lashing both of his arms forward, firing off two arm-sized pillars of blue ki aimed for his opponents chest. The energy drain this early was not ideal, but until he had some grasp of his foe’s abilities, it was probably best to stay at mid-range and force them to come to him.
The Shinjin followed this basic assault up with something a tad more unusual. Brown-red rune circles traced themselves into existence a foot or so from each of his hands, whirling slowly. Alris then shoved his hands through these magical constructs, forming bands of magic around his lower arms. He then raised his hands towards his foe, making several curious gestures, his eyes intently watching his foe and his magical energies gathered. A tentacle made of earth and stone would erupt from the surrounding field a few meters behind the Sayian’s position on the surface of the ring, formed by the Shinjin’s powers. It would then attempt to swing in a wide arc, ideally slamming into the Sayian’s side as she attempted to dodge, sending her crashing into the far wall of the arena. WC: 443
Oh, damn this guy wasn’t going to play around! Enyo flared her ki to full power when he launched those two large pillars.
“Alley-Oop!” Enyo shouted as she flipped over the two beams that Alris shot at her. They crashed into the ground behind her kicking up chunks of earth from the field outside the ring. She kept her eyes carefully on the runes, and so she missed the earthen tentacle that whipped at her.
“Kugh!” She grunted as she was struck, the tentacle knocking her aside. But she righted herself in mid-air. Okay, time to bring this in to close quarters. Where she excelled.
Enyo flew at Alris, green ki flowing over her arms, and hands. They shaped themselves into green claws of energy, and Enyo sliced them down over Alris’s face and chest in a 1-2 combo. She landed crouched on the ground at Alris’s feet, the ki dissipating from her arms after her two attacks.
Let’s see what this guy had going for him in the fisticuffs department, shall we? This way he shouldn’t have enough time to make too many fancy magic incantations.

The godly being raised an eyebrow as his opponent drastically powered up, several motes of dust and dirt floating up around her and shaking in response to the ki emanating from the fighter’s body. Alris’ crystal blue eyes calmly watched as the Sayian woman reached her full power, then using the additional power to easily dodge his opening volley of ki waves.
“Impressive.” Alris said softly, speaking for the first time since he had entered the arena
The energy this “Enyo” had just displayed was an impressive amount of power to be sure, but it was still far enough below his own that only he needed to be wary, not overly cautious. Alris smiled thinly as this viewpoint was proven mere seconds later, the effects of the Shinjin’s magics catching his brash foe off-guard and sending her flying off the edge of the stage. Alris had a fleeting hope that such a maneuver would win him the match by ring-out, but, at the last moment, the Sayian managed to right herself with the power of flight, launching herself back towards his position. In response to this headlong bulrush, Alris assumed his fighting stance once again, his hands extended half-curled as he awaited his opponent
Extraneous thought vanished from the Shinjin’s mind as, instead of firing off punches, the mortal formed her ki into claw-like appendages, slashing at him with the altered ki. Alris closed his eyes for the briefest of movements in resignation, smoothly moving his body out of the way of both swipes and lightly shoving the Sayian’s arm out of the way each time in an almost dancer-like motion, not moving even an inch more than was necessary. “A good technique.” He noted quietly, before lashing forward with an open palm strike aimed at his foe’s unprotected face.
Regardless of the success of this attack, Alris would shoot backwards several yards at high speeds, disengaging from his foe. The Shinjin knew that he was outmatched in terms of damage output at close range, the Sayian had obviously honed her skills in close combat until they gleamed, while Alris had taken the time to develop himself in a far more balanced way. If he was to win this fight, he needed to keep a good amount of distance between them.
That said, the state of his reserves was beginning to grow a bit worrying. A good amount of his energy and ki were already gone in the mere seconds since the match began, while his opponent had been barely touched by his attacks. He needed to change the game now, while he still had the power to do so.
A firm expression settled over the Shinjin’s features, “I apologize miss, but I am afraid I will have to end this here. I cannot lose, so I will have to stop holding back.” He said simply, gathering a good portion of his remaining energy.
The Shjinjin began to chant in a ancient tongue, spreading his arms wide as both magical and ki energy swirled around them. A large blue ritual circle soon formed facing the Sayian, covered in mysterious inscriptions and markings. Alris ended his incantation with a shout, blasting multiple tendrils of ki energy towards his opponent! WC: 518 TWC: 1238 PL: 3,600

Her opponent, Alris, parried her attacks with seeming ease. Enyo was mildly irritated at that. But the guy was stronger than her. It was to be expected. But that didn’t make it any less annoying. She would just have to press him harder.
His hand slapped out at her face, and Enyo caught it in her right hand. The ki from her Beast Claws already defusing in motes of green. The strength of the guy’s attack jolted along Enyo’s arm, and she couldn't hold onto his hand. He easily danced back to mid-range.
Enyo shook her hand lightly to get feeling back into her arm while Alris started chanting some magic bullshit. Enyo gathered her strength, and then as he launched his ki at her, Enyo shoved herself forward, pushing through the blasts by brute force.
She raised her hands, summoning the ki for Beast Claws, but it was a feint, instead she swept her leg out, hoping to trip him, or at least make him stumble. Then, with a vicious snarl on her face Enyo summoned even more of her ki this time, and lashed another double swipe of Beast Claws at Alris. This time she went full power on the attacks. Enyo hoped that her just charging through his attack would catch him off guard enough that she actually connect SOMETHING. She wanted at least a little of his blood shed on this arena before she was through… Word Count: 213 Total Word Count: 691
Alris raised an eyebrow as his brutish foe simply powered straight through his mana burst with seemingly nothing but the remnants of her stamina and sheer, unassailable willpower. An impressive accomplishment to be sure, but probably quite costly for the strange Sayian. Unless the wise young Shinjin had missed his guess, his foe was burning through her reserves nearly as fast as he was his own, not a wise choice when facing a superior foe. But, then again, perhaps this was just the Sayian’s nurturing expressing itself at the worst of times. The Shinjin remembered reading dust-covered desks in the sprawling Library of the Kais, how Sayian culture was highly blunt and straightforward, almost never taking the wiser, more restrained approach when presented with a straight path to an objective.
Then again, perhaps this primitive impulse could work to his advantage.
Alris was not an actor, but he tried his best over the next few seconds, trying his hardest to give off an air of distraction and focus, hoping to draw his foe in even closer. Thankfully, Enyo did not seem to be an art critic, and once again leapt into close range, ki claws swinging.
This time, Alris could not simply give his foe’s arm light taps in order to avoid her swipes. These claws were at full power, and the air around them sizzled and popped as the red-hot blades sliced towards his skull. For the first swipe, a lacerating attack aimed to slice him from hip to shoulder, Alris summoned the majority of his ki and pushed, launching a weak kiai that just managed to push the woman’s arm away far enough so that she missed. The second claw was too close then to pull the same trick so, wincing at the draw on his reserves, Alris simply outsped the attack, leaving an afterimage as he flitted behind his foe at insane speeds.
“Checkmate,” He said softly.
In an instant, he flicked a hard strike at the woman’s kidney, hoping to stun her for a few seconds. Then, using the last of his power, he once again spread his hands in the same gesture he had made earlier, forming another circle of pure magic and energy that blasted tendrils of seething energy at his foe. Just in case she somehow survived his last ditch assault, Alris began drawing upon increasing amounts of his true strength, allowing energy he had held back to flow into his body. He would stand tall and still, sapphire eyes watching for any escape attempt by his foe.
