The Financial officer continued to drone on and on, his oily voice echoing in the carpeted chamber. The room was large, it appeared similar to most offices or courtrooms, and it was filled to the brim with many different alien races. This was a meeting addressing military spending in the PTO; most of the high ranking officers were present as well as many politician types. Obviously with how large the PTO was there was no way this could be done in one day with everyone present, thus today involved Captain Nix and many of his colleagues.
The room was circular and descended the further you went in, the finance officers and representatives were at the bottom sitting at a large table, they spoke into microphones and they were shown on large screens above them. Nix and his contemporaries sat at cushioned chairs at different tiers of height looking down on the stage, they also had long curved tables in front of them for documents and their microphones. This could not be more boring to the Changeling Captain, he let Banaan usually deal with such trivial matters; He knew his expenditure was fine, but his recruit rates were… low.
Nix leaned his head against his palm, staring down at the speaker with glazed eyes; surely everyone else felt similar to this as he did. They continued speaking in finance buzzwords, talking of net gains for new planets, money spent to take them, outfitting soldiers, and on and on. Nix sighed and glanced to Banaan seated next to him, the lieutenant was staring attentively at the speakers below, he did not blink, nor did he write anything down. Yes, that was good Nix supposed; the Tuffle would listen to everything as he continued to drown out the terrible bureaucrat dribble.
Nix was forced to speak at some moments, his voice matching the agreements or negatives of his colleagues; at least it seemed that his recruit graduation rates weren’t the lowest out of everyone. When it came to success and lethality he was near the top though, which would make the changeling show one of his rare smirks. But besides that bit of ego boosting it was the same boring speeches they gave every quarter, why couldn’t they just send out a report to all the officers; probably because no one would waste their time watching it. “I’m getting rather hungry,” the Captain whispered towards his lieutenant, “How much longer do you think this will drag on?" He really wanted some heavy food after this mess, honestly that was one of the Captain’s only know vices. It was rumored that he was a binge eater, and that rumor was correct.
