Personality:
Athren isn't exactly a normal saiyan warrior, he's got complications and depth far beyond most. This comes from the fact that he isn't just a saiyan, he's got demonic blood running through his veins as well and the combination is that of a deadly one.
Firstly, Athren's pride is very well the same as the most elite of saiyan's. He doesn't back down from a fight nor does he take petty insults lightly. He's more than happy to throw a first punch to defend himself against some of the smallest remarks. He's confident and sometimes cocky but when he fights, he focus' in and he's a complete fighting genius.
Given his history, Athren hasn't had a chance to bond with many fighters in the past and this has caused him to have a very small circle and he's more than happy to keep it this way. He doesn't trust people easily and he doesn't go out of his way to please anybody or make friends, truthfully he couldn't care less if he was a lone wolf for the rest of his life. He finds that he fights better on his own than he did with a group and he knew he could always trust himself to make the right call when he couldn't say the same for others.
Athren doesn't hesitate to kill his opponents, if it's a serious fight he's a firm believer in putting them in the ground permanently. He believes that if he spares them, they'll just swear vengeance and try to come back stronger for the kill and that isn't something he easily allows to happen. He's brutal and ruthless and enjoys causing as much pain to the opposition as possibly before ending their life slowly. Of course, if the situation calls for it he'd be smart and end his opponent quickly.
He's quite intelligent with battlefield tactics and prefers to only speak when it's necessary, though occasionally around a few trusted people he doesn't mind back and fourth banter. If he ends up letting people into his life and through his walls, he's quite loyal and doesn't mind defending them. Though more times than not it's about him getting to fight than actually defending his allies, he's quite selfish at times and struggles to do the right thing. Though he isn't evil, he isn't necessarily on the good side of the scale either.
Athren likes fighting, sparring, training, eating and preparing for the next opponent. He doesn't really have many more hobbies than that, he was raised a warrior and that's what he sticks too.
Though he doesn't mind relaxing every now and then either.
Athren absolutely hates the PTO, Changelings, authority and those whom are cocky and can't back it up.
History:
Before his life had taken a very dark twist for the worst Athren had began his life like a normal saiyan infant in an incubation tank. His power level was above the average level of a saiyan elite and he had massive potential and this was due to his demonic origins. You see, his mother was unaware but the 'saiyan' she cared for was really a demon with his own agenda and that was to birth the most powerful warrior in the universe to use at his own disposal. Of course, nobody's plans were going to come to pass.
For when Athren was two, him and four other saiyan infants were sent off to conquer a planet. The planet had very capable fighters but the full moons would make it quick and easy work for a total of give great apes. The invasion of the planet had only taken a total of four days for the mindless apes to wipe out the entirety of the planets population and claim it for their own but what happened next had not been expected by anybody.
The planet of interest had also been spotted by the PTO and their attention had currently been on it. They had seen it as a prime area to set up a base to counter the saiyan's growth. When the PTO soldiers arrived to conquer the planet and begin construction of their base they had found out that their work had already been done for them, there wasn't anybody left to kill and there wasn't anything left to destroy. The planet was wiped clean of life and structures and they had found the ones responsible for it. They had found a total of five saiyan infants and reported it up the chain of command and what the orders were might've shocked everybody.
"Bring them to me."
It was the perfect opportunity, raise them as their own soldiers. They were young enough that they'd retain no memory of their planet Vegeta and they were of the mightiest warrior race in the planet. They had great value to the PTO and they NEEDED these infants. Once they were brought back to the planet, they had immediately begun to train though they insured to keep them in their group. If they bonded and worked as a team, there was a belief that they'd be one of the best teams in the PTO with the most potential to conquer anything they laid their eyes on.
As the years went by, they grew up fast and they grew up very strong. They became one of the most powerful squads in the entire PTO and were often assigned some of the most difficult. Throughout the years, the five had bonded. Athren, Celric, Cress, Zalio and Korn were almost like family, nearly inseparable on both the battlefield and their quarters on the Frost world.
Though after years of very good luck, the PTO needed to take one member of the squad and throw them into another. They decided on the best, the had taken Athren and put him into the Vanguard. At first Athren didn't exactly fit in, he was different and had his own way of doing things but eventually he finally started listening to their leader and even started to bond with the members. It even came to the point where he began to have a relationship with one of his female partners. Whether it was emotional or just physical could've been debated, but there was a connection. This lasted quite some time before his old squad, the saiyan's had gotten an assignment that would need all of their attention.
Reforming back with his crew, they got sent on their final mission together. This mission would've been their last together as it was simply too much. Three of the members had fallen in combat and Athren had finally gotten sick of following the orders of the PTO. It was at this point where he went AWOL. Telling his final remaining partner to spread the word that he had died as well, Athren was free to live his life as he pleased without watching over his back.
This decision had brought him to Earth and this is where his journey continued, for he had met Kira and Ukare and their adventures had just begun.

Example Roleplay:
His body had felt like it was battered and broken beyond repair but that didn't stop him, it couldn't stop him because the simple fact of the matter was that he needed to get up and stand of his own two feet once more. He couldn't stay down, whether or not he had won the fight didn't matter when there was still a fight burning inside him. "Damn it..!" He groaned as he tried to push himself off the ground. His wounds were deep and many, his bruises ravaged his skin and his own blood stained his clothes but he wasn't dead and that was the main thing at this point for it was more than he could say for a majority of his team. For a moment his ocean blue eyes looked directly into the dirt below, drops of blood fell to the ground as they lost contact with his face.
It wasn't a pretty sight and it could be said that it would've been a first but that didn't matter, for there was only one around to see it.
"Athren..!" She exclaimed as she limped over to her downed comrade in hopes of helping him get back onto his feet. Her voice had echoed with a severe case of concern, for she had never seen him so defeated, so wounded. Athren wasn't like that, he always came out on top by a mile but this wasn't like that. "C'mon.. Let's get you up and to our pods.. We need to get you back to Frost to get you healed up.." At this point Cress would've bent down and threw Athren's arm over her shoulder to support him as she lifted him to his feet.
"Argh!" He couldn't help but groan again as his muscles moved and shifted as he rose to his feet, the pain was so severe that it had been the worst pain he had ever experienced. It was unbelievable really, how the fight had gotten to such a dramatic point and how it took Athren literally everything he had and more to pull off the narrow victory against his foe. For a brief second he glanced to Cress, She had been wounded too but not nearly to the extent that he was. "I didn't think it could ever come to this.." At this point his ocean blue eyes scanned around to the three corpses of his comrades that laid on the battlegrounds. "How could one fighter, One fighter do this to our crew?" At this point his left arm rested onto his stomach and applied pressure on a gushing wound. "It's.. unreal." He stated as the situation started to sink into his head, it was a new feeling to him but one that would send him on a journey of a lifetime.
It was at this point that Cress glanced around at the fallen too, she didn't like it anymore than he did so she just shook her head as she started pacing him towards their ship. She would've flown the two but that wasn't going to happen. She was drained completely, her energy and stamina reserves completely emptied from the fight. "I wish I had an answer to that.. Maybe we just weren't ready for this yet.." She paused for a second as she bit her lip, her thoughts telling her to say something that he wouldn't approve of but she hesitated.
Before she could finish off her thoughts Athren began to speak up again, his tone full of doubt and despair. "You know.. Maybe you're right.." He winced again as his body moved in such a way to cause an ounce of pain. "Maybe we weren't ready, but.. Is this really how this ends? Our whole crew killed by just one fighter?" He shook his head in disbelief. "The only family I've known.. Gone.. and for what?" At this point he grit his teeth, it was one of the few ways he could release some of his rage without causing further damage to himself.
At this point Cress couldn't help but arch her brow curiously at his words, she wondered what he had meant by 'for what' and surely she was going to figure it out. Whether it be a simple approach or blunt, she needed to know because it wasn't like Athren to say things like that. "What'd you mean.. And for what?" At this point she stopped them in their tracks and looked him closely in the eyes, her goal was to find the honest truth behind the statement and peering deep into his soul would confirm it from his answer.
Upon their sudden halt Athren couldn't help but gaze back into her eyes, locking onto them deeply he began to speak of what exactly it was that was on his mind and he knew that she wasn't going to approve of it at all but that really didn't matter, he wasn't going to do what he was going to do for her but for his own benefit. "Think about it, Ever since we were kids we've been running missions and succeeding effortlessly.. As we got better the tasks got harder.." At this point he paused for a brief moment as he figured out the right words to say next. "Yet we continued to conquer everything and everyone, and what did we get for it? We didn't get no extra recognition, no bonus on our pays, we didn't get a damn thing for our extra efforts except this death sentence for those three!" At this point hit tone shifted to annoyance as his eyes looked back to his fallen comrades.
At this point Cress let him go and took a large step back, she didn't exactly know what he was trying to say but it wasn't like him to rant like this. "But.. I didn't think you did this for the money or the recognition? I thought you did this because this is what you love to do." She shook her head again and briefly looked down to the ground. "What're you going to do Athren, Really? I've never heard you talk like this in twenty two years." She then glanced back up into his eyes, hoping he wouldn't say the words that she had expected to come next.
At this point he managed to stand on his own two feet, though his left hand was still putting pressure on one of his many wounds and of course it was on the worst of them. At this point he shook his head and glanced back to his space pod, it was his chance at an escape and at freedom and now was the best time to take that chance. "I.. I'm done." He turned his ocean blues to look at Cress once more as a certain sternness crept into his voice. "I'm done fighting for the benefit of others, I'm done fighting for anybody but myself. I'm done with .." He glanced around at the corpses again. "This." He turned around at this point and started to hobble off to his ship. "I fight for my own reason's now, and I don't follow anybodys orders but my own." As he walked away she replied quickly and matched his tone.
It was at this point that she lifted her hand and aimed it at him, she frowned as she did the action but she didn't think she could let him just walk away from her, the PTO and this whole mess. It wasn't supposed to be like this. "I can't let you do that, Athren.. It's my duty." At this point a purple ball began to form at the end of her extended hand. "I can't just stand around and watch you go AWOL. I'll take the punishment for not stopping you and then you'll be hunted until they finally catch up to you and end your life." At this point she sighed lightly, she really hope she wouldn't have to do it but she was fully prepared if it came to it.
Athren couldn't help but snicker and smirk at her words, it was almost a joke to him because he knew deep down that she couldn't actually do that to him. They had a life long bond and this decision of his wasn't going to end it just like that. Slowly, Athren shrugged his shoulders and turned his head slightly. "Tell them I'm dead, that'll cover your ass.." At this point he began taking more steps and closing the gap to his pod. "But you do whatever you have to do." he said, telling her to blast him down if she needed too.
It was at this point that Cress lowered her arm and stood down, she simply watched him enter his pod and blast off into the unknown of space. She didn't exactly know how to feel about the situation but she knew that it was an end of a chapter in her life and that a new one would follow soon. "We'll see you around, Athren." She mumbled to herself as his pod finally vanished from sight.
