It'd taken her little time to get her stuff carted into her dorm, and she could be seen lounging about like a cat when she wasn't out on a mission. To be honest, Carnelian appreciated the company. The staff in the building couldn't count, their minds were more Carnelian than their own at this point, their eyes being the same color amber as his proving that. He wasn't going to stop at just one new hire, no, he needed to branch out. Slowly though, rapid expansion had caused his empire no small trouble in the past, and he knew it's dangers. So he put another job posting out for an enforcer, someone specifically to be as mean as possible, someone to keep by his side. And what do you know, there was a response almost immediately. Clearly work wasn't plenty for mercenaries nowadays. Anywho, the interview was this afternoon, and while he usually loved to play the big bad CEO and sit in his office, backlit by the Frost twilight, the nature of the new hire meant he would meet them in the lobby. So he clamped the weights to his legs, hopped from his chair, and made his way to the lobby elevator. He waved to Enyo, who gave him fingerguns from her lazy perch. Down he went, to meet with his prospective bodyguard.
Planet Frost was quite the place full of opportunity and over the last decade Ocus had been really making himself well known across the planet. It was a combination of his size and his shear brutality that had really made other soldiers talk about him. It was funny, his power level really wasn't anything to brag about but his mental instability was a feat all on its own, it kept people on their toes and they never knew what to expect from him. Even those whom worked along side him fear their lives from time to time. Even though he was unpredictable and had a mind of a child, Ocus was like the rest of his co workers in the sense that they wanted to make it further to the top. While most wanted more money, respect and other bonus' provided by the PTO overlord, Ocus just wanted more food and more enemies to beat up. He really wasn't a picky one at all, he just wanted to continue to have his fun and fight on longer. It wasn't often that he went looking for a promotion of any kind but in this scenario this one basically slapped him in the face, he saw an advertisement for a recruitment drive for some kind of a new unit and he couldn't say no. Surely, they'd provide him with more food and more challenging fighters along the way. Ocus needed to be busy, his attention span wasn't large enough for him to be satisfied doing nothing all the time. If he ended up doing nothing, he would typically either eat until he fell asleep or pick on those around him. Which, neither benefited the faction that he had found himself apart of.
"Ocus lost!" Ocus said aloud as he wandered the halls looking for this lobby. It was in an area that he wasn't familiar with and Ocus wasn't typically good at navigation. Of course, if it had been an open planet he could've flown around until he found it but here? Here, he was practically sent to find a needle in a haystack. As he navigated through hallway after hallway, he couldn't help but skip as he did it. His eyes wandered around looking at the decoration that every hall had. Something about the PTO and their decorations was unique and was dedicated to warriors of the past. Particularly those who had stood out in the faction for various reasons throughout the years. He thought maybe he could've been idolized by the PTO some day, he put in the work and had the right drive to get there. Sure, his reason's were his own and he wasn't overly obsessed with the PTO faction itself but he did benefit them greatly when it came to his fighting skills. "CUSE ME!" Ocus yelled out to another PTO soldier as he skipped over to him with the address of the lobby in his hand. "OCUS CAN'T FIND!" He yelled out to the soldiers face as he extended the piece of paper to him. "YOU HELP OCUS." He continued to yell as if he were still feet away from the soldier, when the fact was he was right beside him.
"Uh.." At this point the soldier simply nodded his head and grabbed the piece of paper from the small little majin warrior. Looking at the directions on the piece of paper he simply pointed down the hallway. "Go down there and take a right.. Follow that until you get to the lobby that you're looking for." At this point the soldier extended the piece of paper back to the majin and gave him a bright smile.
At this point Ocus grabbed the piece of paper and started skipping off again, of course he didn't actually know which direction was right and came to a sudden halt. He scratched his head for a moment before turning his head right around and looking at the soldier again. "WHAT IS RIGHT?" He asked yelling once more at the soldier.
"Oh, Uh!" At this point the soldier simply pointed in the direction that Ocus needed to go. Surely, Ocus couldn't have been that stupid.. Could he? The soldier couldn't help but shake his head slightly. Was this truly the future of the PTO? Relying on mindless fighters like that to get the job done? He couldn't believe it, hell.. he refused to believe it. The PTO had to have made a mistake, right? Regardless, the solider would've ended up walking off at this point
Turning his head around and back to the proper direction, Ocus began skipping back down the hallway. Taking the right where he was supposed to he had followed that until he had reached the lobby that he was supposed to be in. At this point in time it had seemed very empty, there hadn't been anybody in sight and he strutted in like had had owned the place. In all honesty, this lobby was one of the fanciest that he had seen. He stretched his neck out to push his head far so he could look all over the place without moving his feet. "WHERE IS EVERYONE?" Ocus yelled out as he stretched his neck back to create his usual figure. "OCUS BORED!" He exclaimed as he skipped around the room looking for any signs of life.
Surely, he wouldn't have to wait long before somebody arrived because if he did he was going to lose his mind with boredom and probably start messing up the place. It wasn't something that he could help either, he was just a child like majin with a lack of communication skills. Of course, he was slowly getting better and better by the day but he still had a really far way to go before he was on a civil or 'normal level'. Maybe in time with the right people, Ocus could educate himself enough to be a proper being in the universe but that was a large maybe. Word Count: 1,001
Carnelian stepped out of the elevator. Lobby, bottom floor. Every head turned to look at him, then lowered as the staff quietly left the lobby, the receptionist closing and locking the front doors as she did so. The upbeat music that filled the lobby quieted, and was replaced with a low, smooth jazz. Only one person remained in the lobby, a smallish, bubblegum pink majin. They were clearly bored, paying him no attention, pacing in intricate circles. The clacking of Carnelian's metal feet on the hardwood caused him to turn, and his face seemed to light up.
"Ocus, I presume? My name is Carnelian, and I will be conducting our little interview today. It's a pleasure to meet you! Here, come with me."
Carnelian led Ocus over to a table in the corner of the room, large, plush chairs on either side. As they settled in and got comfortable, he steepled his fingers under his chin, a soft smile on his face.
"Now Ocus, why don't you go ahead and tell me what you hope to get out of working with the Frost Networking Solutions group. What do you bring to our table? I'd ask about prior work experience, but you seem the sort to be... uniquely suited for this position."
In all honesty, Ocus was losing his mind in this lobby. It wasn't his scene and it surely wasn't the place for him, Ocus would much rather have spent his time where there had been an endless buffet of food and candy. That was the places that Ocus liked to be at. Regardless, he had come here for a reason and it was more than reasonable to follow through and talk it out with his interviewer. As the man had mentioned for Ocus to follow him he simply nodded his head and loudly spoke. "OTAY! OCUS COME WITH!" He said this in an innocent voice, one that would've been very unique to only himself. It was in this moment that Ocus had followed the man over to a chair and took a seat, the chair was rather comfortable and Ocus had fit right into it like a glove.
Now, given that this was Ocus' first official interview he wouldn't exactly know how to handle himself in this given situation. He was a mindless fighter, he was one that loved to cause massive amounts of pain to his opponent and taunt them while he was doing it. You see, the more pain and suffering he could cause to a weaker being the happier he was and the more thrilled he would be to continue and he didn't want anything more than that out of this, well.. with the exception of food of course. Lots of snacks and people to beat on and he was much more than happy to do the job. The facts were that Ocus had such a simple mind that he didn't need much to do this job, he just needed the finer things in life. When it came down to it, the pay really didn't matter and the allies didn't matter, it was the purpose and his own selfish drive that drove him to do what he did. Now, if he had been at his originally power level this conversation wouldn't be happening as he'd be off tormenting the weak and killing as he pleased but given that his power level had faded drastically over the time of his slumber, he was well aware that he needed to start off slow and absorb the strong when he had been given the opportunity and maybe, just maybe that's what he would've hoped for.
If somebody could take down a strong opponent and he could manage to absorb said opponent, he could increase his power level drastically in a short time and get back to the top where he once was. Now, even Ocus had realized how much of a stretch this might've been but one could only hope. If he could get back to that original power, there was nobody out in the universe at this time that could match his strength. He would be able to roam around the universe unmatched and unchallenged, his might would set his dominance in stone and he would be free to do as he pleased with absolutely no resistance against his might because if somebody had resisted him, he could simply destroy them with a flick of his finger. This was his true motives but he wasn't going to tell his employer that, this knowledge was for him and him alone. Nobody was going to stop him from this, all he needed to do was play his cards right and act like the loyal subject like he had been for now.
At this point Ocus spun his head right around and forward again, his neck was bent three hundred and sixty degrees. His eyes locked onto his interviewer as he got a dark, evil smile across his face. "OCUS JUST WANT GOOD FOOD AND FUN!" He exclaimed loudly as he showed his excitement to get his job, again... for him it was a means to an end and with numbers on his side his absorption was looking better and better each and every day. Though, it might've still been a slim to none chance.. there was hope for him. At this point his tone quieted down as he started to talk like a normal person, he brought out his inside voice. "Ocus is a great fighter, Ocus fight for many years!" At this point his head spun around again the right way and straightened out. "Me very tough, me very very strong! I beat all the fighters whom appose you!"
It wasn't that Ocus was a stupid creature, in fact it was just that he wasn't educated well and considering that he didn't absorb anybody with a high intellect his dialog was lacking dramatically. Ocus knew how to get what he wanted and he knew how the universe worked, he just wasn't the one to participate like everybody else. You see, the majin always had his own way of going about. It was unfortunate that he was always on his own, that he was always by himself in his past life as he really didn't learn how to bond with anybody. As of now, the only people he'd be willing to bond with were kind, innocent people that he could nap on and those people were very few to him. "Me defend us really good!" He said to end his part of the interview. Surely, the interviewer wouldn't have expected any of this, surely a much more intelligent fighter was expected here.
Though one thing was certain from Carnelian's statement, and that was that Ocus had been very uniquely suited for this job. It wasn't just his fighting skills that would've made the statement a fact but also his durability in battle, the majin was a very tough opponent to take down and he typically wore out the other fighters before they could do much damage. Plus, he had a wide variety of techniques that weren't commonly seen around the universe. Ocus, was in fact a warrior not to be taken lightly, he was a cold killer who was in it for the fun. Carnelian smiled wide, his eyes glinting in the low light. This majin was everything he'd hoped for. From what he remembered, they were remarkably resilient, unpredictable, and loyal to the one feeding them. Perfect. Absolutely perfect.
"Well then Ocus, if you want the job, it's yours. Bunks are in the penthouse, top floor. Take any room you want. Stick with me, and you'll never go hungry again~"
