Character Name: Genis
Gender: Female
Race: Saiyan
Age: 24
Fighting Style: Balanced
Appearance:
History: Genis was never meant to be what she was expected to be; a leader, an independent woman who never relied on others when unnecessary, and someone who was reliable. She was born into a family of nobility and fighters. Because she was in a noble family, it was expected of her to live up to her family's name of strong and exceptional fighters. Her mother, father, her younger sister and older brother, they were all skilled in martial arts... all except for Genis. She never showed any interest trying to get in the world of fighting. She preferred to be in a more casual and civilian field. She wanted to live a peaceful life and never have the worry of trying to be stronger everyday unlike her parents.
Unfortunately her parents disapproved her request of living a peaceful life. They wanted her to fight and get the feel of what it was like to be above her own kind, but she denied. She felt as if there was no need for her to get into fighting. Genis already knew what she wanted to be: to go into the medical fields. It didn't seem much, but to her she loved to help people. Not in the sense of fighting anyone, but to instead help treat patience and make a difference in the world. She wasn't a physical fighter, but the least she could do is help fight against sickness and help her kind.
No matter how good willed and intentioned she was, her parents disapproved of her dreams and insisted that she should become a fighter. As Genis would argue for her defense, she only hoped, or expect rather, for her siblings to step in and defend her. To her dismay and luck, her siblings would only shame her into giving into the civilian life. Instead of sticking up to their own blood and flesh, their own middle sister, they only taunted her and tormented her for most of her life.
That was when Genis finally gave into the humiliation and decided to try and give the fighting style a try, but it wasn't something that just came to her naturally. If she wanted to be accepted by her family, she'd do everything she could to become a fighter. When her family tried to train her, however, showed no mercy when she started out and had no intentions of being patient with her. They expected Genis to quickly catch up, but the only thing she could do was feebly defend herself, which made her more of a target of humiliation by her parents. No matter how much she trained, even by herself, she couldn't keep up with her family.
No more, she thought. No more would she have to put up with the humiliation. She wanted to run away. Genis had nowhere to go or go to, nowhere to stay or stay with, but that was the only solution she had to put an end to her misery. She thought she had everything according to plan when it came to her trying to make her mistake. Would her family even care if she ran away? Would they even notice that she disappeared? Probably not, but Genis wanted to be somewhere where she wouldn't be judged for her decision for living a more peaceful life.
But her plan immediately backfired when she was all by herself living on the streets and doing whatever she could to survive. She went from being apart of nobility to being with the poor. She felt ashamed knowing that she lost everything that was hers and her family essentially "disowning" her before she could even try to run away. As much as she felt ashamed, she accepted the destiny she gave herself into. She would still be judged of her class which she was trying to get away with... but at least it's not from her family this time, right?
After just a mere few months of struggling to survive, she was discovered by a family member of whom remembered her when she was but a very small girl. It was her aunt, Haisa, who decided to take Genis under her care and nurse her back to normal. Genis explained her situation to her aunt, who was completely understanding to her niece's kind nature. Haisa explained that she was also like Genis in her younger years until she finally gave into the fighting lifestyle. She didn't do it for approval from her family and others, but for herself and to defend herself well.
It took a while for Genis to become more aggressive and assertive when she was softer and more compassionate in nature, but with her aunt by her side she was gradually improving her fighting abilities. The more she trained, the stronger and tougher she's gotten. She still kept her sophisticated nature in tact, but has learned how to use her bolder side when necessary. It wasn't an easy task in all honesty, only because Genis never saw herself as someone who was capable of killing even an insect, but eventually she was adapting more to her new persona.
Now that Genis was at least capable of defending herself, she was now ready to take things further. She wanted to make a name for herself, so she decided to join the Saiyan army and prove everyone that ridiculed her wrong and bow before her as she climb the ranks. It felt like a suicide mission for someone like Genis who just began to learn how to properly stand up for herself, but she was more than willing to show everyone she isn't the same timid woman she was before.
Personality: Genis isn't exactly the average Saiyan as some would expect. She is known to be a sophisticated woman who hailed from a noble family that were fighters. She speaks with elegance and with a little sass in her speech. She's well-mannered and spoken and often speaks with formality; very rarely does she trail off into informality. Even when she fights, Genis knowns how to keep her class and cool, but it doesn't mean she doesn't know how to snap, much to her usual relaxed composure.
She had an extremely friendly attitude which sets her off from her family. She can be motherly and supportive always willing to lend a hand. Many would see this as a weakness, but compared to how she was before, Genis views sympathy and empathy as a weapon and a way to get information out of people. Her maturity shows that she is more than capable of dealing with dire situation in the most intense pressure on her. Patience was a key factor from her mother's side. She doesn't put up an stoic act and instead acts authentic and whatever is given to her.
However, while she still can be friendly, she's not as innocent and naive compared to before. Genis now has more of an edge to her, knowing how to people in their places and taking on a bolder side. She has a silver tongue that can easily stab and slice as inherited from her lovely parents and can get catty real quick if tempted. Genis is more than willing to follow up with her threats, but very well knows when to back down than to be all talk. She likes to tell hard facts and doesn't dwell on dreams, but can just suck it up for the sake of appearing more sympathetic.
As expected from more of a typical Saiyan, Genis can be extremely narcassistic when it comes to showing off her asset, especially in fighting. Coming from a noble family that was prestigious in fighting, no doubt would she be a little egotistical when it comes to showing off her power. As much as she hates to admit it, she can be a bit self-centered and egotistical.

[Example Roleplay: The light blond Saiyan circled her index finger on the rim of her glass, the pungent smell of her barely drunken alcohol causing her nose to wrinkle. Staring at the beverage, she heaved a heavy sigh and gently slid her glass to the side. She leaned back in her seat and looked over to her left side with a neutral expression. There, were her fellow soldiers cheering about and making rather crude jokes with each other. Looking over to her right, she witnessed another set of fellow soldier singing along and drinking their problems away.
Ah, this was bothersome.
Her crew have returned from a mission that put everyone on the line; it was something even Genis wasn't ready for considering she was a newbie. After surviving and completing the mission, her captain insisted that they should go drinking and everyone should come along. After all, he promised to pay everyone's drinks. Who would turn that down? Obviously Genis sine she had no interest in alcohol, but no, her captain "insisted" that she should come along, especially on her first week of being in the army. There was also no doubt that he could easily manipulate his authority to do however he pleased with Genis only accepting his demands as a rookie. She was damned. Very damned.
"Not enjoying the little after party, I see?" Genis was startled from the sudden voice that called from behind. She turned around to see one of her, who'd she call, acquaintances, Chira. She was one of the very few people that not only Genis acquainted with, but she was also someone who Genis tolerated to say the least. She took a sip of her drink while shooting a sly and small smirk to the blond Saiyan. Stepping up closer to Genis's back, she placed her mug down next to Genis's glass and cleaned on the counter to get a better look at her face.
Facing forward, Genis gave a small shrug. "It's not exactly the worse, but it's certainly not my... scene to be in. Alcohol and I were never really on good terms. She admitted. "Apparently only getting water would make me a 'downer' to the rest of the crew and wasn't a 'team spirit drink'... whatever the hell that means. Genis gently hissed. She never liked the smell of alcohol or even the taste of it. It just tasted so stingy she never understood how such a drink would be loved by many.
Chira nodded her head in empathy while making a gentle sigh. "I understand. It's an exotic taste at first; something you're not familiar with at all. I'd say give it a shot a couple of times and you'll fall for it eventually, but I'm not one to try and push people out of their comfort zones unlike our glorious crew leader." She snorted at her own sarcastic remark of her leader being glorious. She stared at Genis's drink, which only looked as if it wasn't touched at all. "Aaaaaand I'm assuming you don't want this little ol' drink right here, yeah?" She asked with a grin.
Shaking her head and waving her hand as a sign of approval, Chira took the glass and poured the drink into her mug. "I just don't understand... I'm from nobility, damn it! The least the king would've done is place me somewhere where the social classes are common. Out of all groups... THIS," She pauses for a moment to gesture her hand around the bar of rowdy crew members. "Is what I get?
Chria could only offer a small shrug of her own before taking a sip of her new combined drink. "Damn, that's good." She whispered to herself before looking back at Genis. "And hey, you were the one that stepped down from the world of nobility right? When you ran away from your home?" She asked.
The blond woman shook her head. "I only distanced myself from my family, not my social class. Then again... I was only given the status rather than earning it myself... as much as I hate to say it. Damn it all, I need some air." Genis clicked her tongue in annoyance as she ran a hand through her hair to help calm her frustrations.
"Hey, hey, it's cool. Not everyone can keep up with what we have. Some of us are thrown back at the bottom just to climb back to the greatness we once had. Even higher than the greatness we had, too. The king will acknowledge your efforts, you just gotta wait and make it happen." Chira explained. Picking up her mug, she pulled herself back from the counter. "Just don't forget me when ya go big." She said with a smirk before she left.
"...Heh. Don't worry, I'm not like my parents." Genis whispered to herself.
