Reaching up, Zeta grabbed hold of the flashlight he had perched onto the shelf that overlooked his work bench. Laid atop the flat surface were several pieces of metal, each of which he was working into shaping through the use of a concentrated laser. The red beam of plasma suddenly dispersed as Zeta set the tool aside and through the use of metal clamps, he began to fold the now malleable material into curved shapes. Carefully, he would set them onto a large anvil, the curved surface being used to rest the tempered metal on and with a loud ring, he began to swing a hammer down. Each strike was calculated and in rhythm as he used his free hand to turn the solid object clockwise until he was satisfied. After a few moments, he would lay the molded metal back atop the table, where he slipped on a pair of protective gloves and goggles over his eyes.
Using both hands he lifted a large vat of liquid closer to his workbench before lifting the lid up and off of it, the liquid inside letting out a low hiss as it was exposed to the oxygenated environment. Taking the metal clamps in hand, he would grab a firm hold on the metal before slowly and carefully dipping it into the vat, a mist rising out as the heated metal was cooled down and the molecules began to hold the shape. Lifting the metal piece up, Zeta would take a grinder and smooth out the edges along with the surface, adding a nice bit of shine to his craftsmanship, taking some pride in his own work. "Perfect, now onto the fun part." He would say amidst his soothing humming, there was nothing more enjoyable for Zeta than peace, quiet and the ability to pursue his own interests. Despite being a scientist at heart, Zeta was still a child, the idea of being able to make himself stronger through the use of his knowledge was comforting.
He lacked the physique to keep up with most kids his own age as schooling had taken precedence over physical activity during his life, still, his own curiosity fueled him to branch out and learn everything. Although he wasn't gifted in the physical arts, that just meant he had something else to work and strive for, a side goal that could alleviate boredom at the very least and still bare some use for the practical. The PTO had no shortage of fighters and soldiers looking for the newest gear to give them that edge in combat but this, this was something special. Zeta was building something for himself to use, a nifty addition that could meld well with his natural mechanical implants. What he had now was simply the seed of this idea, all he had was his own work as a baseline as he hadn't seen anything similar yet. Using a laser welder, he was carefully worked to attaching a complex circuit into the underside of the protective plating.
The metal was a mix of katchin and more common metals found and collected in the nearby asteroids known as palladium. The katchin was incredibly tough, able to withstand heavy impacts and was made even tougher once it was able to reach its boiling point and then cooled quickly. Palladium was used to store energy into the armor, the fine metal used to line the insides and fuel the armor; not only that but it could also absorb hydrogen as a backup source and fuel the armor in short bursts when the main cell had been used up, meaning it only needed time to regain its charge. With the inner workings placed in carefully, Zeta began to work on the last piece of the set, lining the inside with thick padding and leather so that should any wires come loose, he wouldn't receive any shocks in the midst of battle. Finally, a neural connector was wired through the main chest plate which in turn would connect to the other pieces when fully assembled, the piece of machinery attaching itself to the synapses through his spine and the base of his brain which had housed the already built in machinery that helped him to function.
The brain would help to operate this combat suit and with it, the suit was almost an extension of oneself, able to act just as quickly as his mind, even if his body had difficulty keeping up. The only problem he had yet to figure out was the issue of the strain it could put while forcing the wearer to move as quickly as it could. The body had its limits, though the creation of the armor would help to supersede and experimentation would help to find an answer to strengthening its weaknesses.
